I developed an extremely serious & very painful lower back problem in February 2021. My symptoms deteriorated quickly & within weeks my mobility was severely reduced from being able to walk for up to 4 miles down to 1 mile. I saw Mr Henry Budd at the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital in Exeter in April & following an MRI scan of my lower back he advised that I needed lumbar decompression of the L4 & L5 vertebrae. The deterioration increased further till May when I could only walk 200 yards or stand for 2 minutes due to excruciating pain. By that time I was beginning to lose all feeling from my waist down on walking or standing. Mr Budd carried out the lumbar decompression surgery on 20th May at the Royal Devon & Exeter hospital & the following day he saw me before his daily surgery to confirm that the surgery went really well & provided the physiotherapists were happy I could leave hospital that afternoon which I did. Since then I have no pain at all & can walk up to 7 miles & stand for an hour without any pain which is absolutely wonderful. I saw Mr Budd again for a follow up appointment this week & I could not thank him enough for changing my life! I would highly recommend Mr Budd he is so attentive, friendly, he inspires you with complete confidence in him & is such an amazingly talented person

Mr Budd is very attentive and down to earth. He put me at ease and explained everything (good and bad!) clearly. He visited me soon after surgery to see how I was recovering which I really appreciated. I have been suffering for some time with back pain that gave me terrible sciatic nerve pain. The NHS list was such a long wait so I decided to go private. Mr Budd was also my NHS consultant so it felt only natural to request him for this surgery. I would highly recommend exploring this option if you suffer with similar symptoms. I had a lumber interbody fusion with facetectomy and decompression. It is 8 weeks since the operation and I am starting to feel the benefits - it’s a long recovery but I am hopeful to get back to enjoying some daily activities and back to enjoying life again without the debilitating pain.

Clearly an expert in his field but also a caring gentle and"human" professional. Listened, explained my diagnosis and gave me treatment plan. Six weeks later performed procedure and after 4 months of severe pain and depression I hve not looked back. Sorted physio and did review leaving me with open access via his secretary. Allelujah and many thanks.

Smiling, welcoming, friendly and easy to talk to. Even in the midst of a pandemic every effort was made to operate as quickly as possible, the operation was excellent as was the end result. Since the operation the improvement has been very quick and the pain relief was instant following surgery.

After suffering from painful sciatica, I went to see Mr Henry Budd and I am very glad I did. Mr Budd was exceptionally friendly and helpful and put me at ease. He explained my options, and recommended an injection. I am so pleased I took his advice as now I am pain free and very thankful to Mr Budd and his team.
